The role of club president consists of the following responsibilities:
- Hold regular board meetings to prepare for each season and any other club event. Typically, the board has 2 meetings per season. In the past, meetings have taken place at a local pub/restaurant and have been a working dinner. Food and drink are generally complimentary.
- Hold an annual meeting to fulfill our 501c3 obligations. At this meeting, finances are discussed, the state of the club is described to members, and new board members are nominated and elected. This meeting usually takes place at the Lucky Lab NW meeting room, with complimentary food and drink.
- Work with board members to share responsibilities around putting on the season. These can include:
- Publicizing upcoming seasons or club events
- registration of players, and submitting teams to PYSA
- Holding a jamboree party at Chapman at the start of the fall season
- Taking the club to the Timbers or Thorns as a group
- Resolving club problems (for example parent or coach behavior, or recruiting a coach)
- Planning the eventual re-turf of the Chapman field
- For any board position that is unfilled, do your best to cover that spot.
- Represent HSC interests at LYS board meetings.
It is possible for the club president to do most of the required tasks to put on a season, but the club will be much stronger with a team of parents that are eager to put smiles on kids faces.
The current club president is Mark Janes, who has a 7th grader in LYS. He has no other kids that will participate in HSC teams. It is important to find a parent that has kids at Chapman that can keep the club healthy for the next generation of soccer stars.
