Coaches are informally registered with the club when they volunteer as part of player registration.

To protect our players and comply with federal law, all youth sport coaches must have a criminal background check and complete US SafeSport training. Please read below to be registered as a coach:

  1. Submit PYSA Background Check video of process

    1. Use this link to log in to Affinity.

    2. Select “Registration” on the top right hand side (NOT “Login”)
    3. Login with your username/password OR create a new account if you do not yet have one
    4. Select the PYSA Fall 2025-2026 season (not Fall 25-26, it MUST say PYSA) and check "Coach/Admin Registration"
    5. Make sure you see your name listed in your family members (if you don’t, add a new parent/guardian with your info), click “Continue”
    6. On the next page, select the button that says “Register as a Coach/Admin”
    7. From the drop down menu, select “PYSA Recreational”
    8. Follow the prompts to complete the registration. You should receive a confirmation email after completion.

  2. SafeSport Training

    1. Access or create your account with SafeSport at this link

    2. If you have not created an account previously, complete all required fields to register. A member ID is not required. If you have an existing account, please login.
    3. Click on “Menu” and select “Catalog”.

    4. If you are a new coach or have not completed a SafeSport training previously: click the Start button for “SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation” to complete the course. It must be the US Soccer Federation course. Safe Sport for Kids, Safe Sport for Youth, or other SafeSport courses are not valid.

    5. If you are a returning coach and have already completed the “SafeSport Trained - U.S. Soccer Federation” Course: you will need to complete ONE of the three “refresher” courses -

      1. Refresher 1: Recognizing and Reporting Misconduct
      2. Refresher 2: Preventing Misconduct
      3. Refresher 3: Creating a Positive Sport Environment
    6. Once completed, upload your certificate into your OYSA Affinity coach profile or email to your rec club leader.
  3. Concussion Training: All coaches must complete Concussion Training. This is a US Soccer Requirement

    1. To complete State mandated annual concussion training go to the NFHS Concussion Training website

    2. Select Oregon from the list of states, then login (or create a new account if needed). Select Order Course (it will be $0) then select Myself.
    3. Once completed, upload your certificate into your OYSA Affinity coach profile or email your certificate to your rec club leader.
