The Scholarships chair is a position created to provide discretion for families seeking financial assistance.  One point of contact receives requests for scholarships, and provides discount coupons to parents.

HSC's Scholarship policy is:
 * Any parent expressing a need for a scholarship receives a 50% discount with no questions asked
 * Players receiving free and reduced cost lunches through PPS play soccer for free.  Occasionally, the scholarship chair may have a family without credit or internet access, who cannot submit registration forms.  In this case, the chair meets with the parent to register the player.
 * In clear cases of hardship, the chair will work to purchase the necessary equipment for the player.  HSC has a large amount of cleats and equipment at the Hillside Community Center that can be re-used.

The scholarship chair provides information to the board about the number of scholarship requests without divulging who they are.  

This position has a low time commitment, and is a great way to take a leadership role in the club.

The current Scholarship chair is Rob Solmer, who does not have any children eligible to play Hillside Rec Soccer.  This position should be filled with urgency by a parent of a younger player.
