All recreational coaches are required to comply with US Youth Sport requirements, as verified by US Youth Soccer and PYSA each season.  These registration steps are necessary to keep our children safe.  

If you have already taken SafeSport and Concussion training for the current season with LYS competitive/OYSA, then please skip training and make sure your existing certificates were uploaded to your Affinity account.

Please perform these steps at the start of each season:

 1. Submit PYSA Background Check [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOJRBlEEbcc|Video of process]]
  a. Login to the Affinity registration system with this [[https://oysa-lys.sportsaffinity.com/reg/Public/registration/login.aspx?domain=oysa-lys.sportsaffinity.com&language=english&sessionguid=|link]]
  a. Select “Registration” on the top right hand side ('''NOT''' “Login”)
  a. Select "PYSA Fall 2024-2025" for the season, and "Coach / Admin Registration"
  a. Make sure you see your name listed in your family members (if you don’t, add a new parent/guardian with your info), click “Continue” and register as a coach/admin for “Rec”
  a. Follow the prompts to complete the registration. You should receive a confirmation email after completion.
 2. SafeSport Training: All coaches must complete SafeSport Training. This is a US Soccer Requirement. 
  a. Access or create your account with SafeSport at this [[https://safesporttrained.org?KeyName=JJFAQsQPWNRj01edWcPr|link]]
  a. If you have not created an account previously, complete all required fields to register. A member ID is not required. If you have an existing account, please login.
  a. Click on “Menu” and select “Catalog”. 
  a. If you are a new coach or have not completed a SafeSport training previously: click the Start button for “SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation” to  complete the course. It must be the US Soccer Federation course. Safe Sport for Kids, Safe Sport for Youth, or other SafeSport courses are not valid. 
  a. If you are a returning coach and have already completed the “SafeSport Trained - U.S. Soccer Federation” Course: you will need to complete ONE of the three “refresher” courses - 
   i. Refresher 1: Recognizing and Reporting Misconduct
   i. Refresher 2: Preventing Misconduct
   i. Refresher 3: Creating a Positive Sport Environment

 3. Concussion Training: All coaches must complete Concussion Training. This is a US Soccer Requirement.
  a. To complete State mandated annual concussion training go to the [[https://nfhslearn.com/courses/concussion-in-sports-2|NFHS Concussion Training website]]
  a. Select Oregon from the list of states, then login (or create a new account if needed). Select Order Course (it will be $0) then select Myself.
